My Cousins Cancer Benifit

Choose Hope
Earlier this year my cousin Tristan was diagnosed with cancer. After many hospital trips, his cancer was removed and he is now back to his normal self. There are many bills that still need to be paid, and the Cancer Society can no help out with paying them because he is declared cancer free. We decided to hold a benifit to help raise money for the hospital bills .I have been asked to do paintings and drawings for the benifit. We are holding it in July around his birthday, and everyone is welcome to show up.

About Alopecia Areata

I usually don't talk about my so called "condition", but today I guess I will. I have Alopecia Areata, an idiopathic autoimmune disorder, which causes your hair to fall out. I was diagnosed with this when I was 11 years old. It was caused by various things like stress and anxiety, but it was also in my genes. My aunt on my fathers side had experienced it too, but hers wasn't as bad. Many people stare at me, but it doesn't really bother me anymore like it used to.

Modern Pangea

Wikipedia
What if the continents were suddenly smashed back together? If the continents were smashed back together there would be more of a variety, and when i say variety i mean different religions, races, and cultures. People would be able to look into other religions and learn how they work. People would be able to explore all of the different cultures throughout the entire landmass called "Pangea". They would be able to learn things they may have never known, like what holidays different cultures celebrate.

Guide to Fitting In

If you want to fit in at this school, then there are many rules to follow.
Wikipedia
Rule 1: Don't act suspicious. if you act suspicious students will figure something out sooner or later.
Rule 2: Stick with a group. If you stick with a group you have less of a chance of being noticed. * a popular group is not a good idea.
Rule 3: Act like you're supposed to be there.
These should be good for the first week. Good Luck.

My New Ear Piercing

Etsy
Recently I got a new ear piercing called a Tragus piercing. My parents told me that when I had saved up enough money that I could get one. Well, I had saved up enough money for it over the corse of a month. Tuesday, of this week, I decided to do it. We went to the shop after a school concert and paid $30. When I was getting it done it didn't even hurt, and she said that most people cried when they got it done. The only thing i don't like about it is that I can't use my headphones.

President Lincoln

The Blah-G
President Abraham Lincoln was one of our first test subjects. We didn't know how this would work out at first, but with some time and effort we discovered that our new substance could bring back the dead. We poured the gooey substance on the grave of Mr. Lincoln, and we waited about two hours for it to work. We interviewed him, and we showed hi many new things, including this boombox which he took a liking to.

Donations Needed

Community West Foundation
Recently one of my friends passed away in a terrible car crash. Her family did not have any money for her funeral, so we all came together and thought of an idea. We decided to round up donations, and so far we have been doing well. On the first day we met our goal of $4,500. There are still 5 days to donate money, and we've received over $5,000. One man was generous enough to donate $200!

The Best Book I've Ever Read

The Read Spot
The best book I've ever read is The Running Dream by Wendeline Van Draanen. This book is about a runner, Jessica, who looses her leg in a horrible accident. She is in the hospital for awhile and begins thinking that her life is over. once she is able to go home, her father tells her she shouldn't give up just yet. She starts being able to move around by herself again. The community helps raise enough money to get her a prostetic leg, and she starts running again.

Social Media

digi10ve

Yes I have accounts on social media websites, but I only use them to talk to friends and family. Many children are now using social media just to try to fit in or be popular. Yesterday I saw someone post a fight, yes a physical fist fight, on a website called Instagram. I don't think that these teenagers know how much trouble they could get in. It could not only get them kicked off of the website, but they could also get in trouble outside of there "internet lives". People need to be careful with what they put online.

Snow Day Sickness Cures

If your children are bored on a snow day there are many things you could suggest. You could plan an activity like playing a board game. If they don't want to play you could always try making cookies or making hot chocolate. I mean what child doesn't like cookies and hot chocolate! If they want to go out and play make a game out of it. You could suggest making them go on a scavenger hunt to find all of the things that they need.

Fall Out Boy and Paramore Concert

Antiquiet
On my birthday, February 21st, I got concert tickets! When I came home from school my parents sat me down and started talking to me about being responsible. They said thay though I was responsible enough to be able to go to a concert. I had been asking them casually, you know from time to time, and I think they got the hint. I had four tickets all together and decided to bring my mom, my cousin Tristen, and my Aunt Jenni.

My Cousin

Skreened
My cousin Tristen , age 10, was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called Sarcoma. It all started when he had a bump forming underneath his left arm. We thought it was just from being bumped while playing around. It began to grow bigger so my aunt took him to the hospital and he was diagnosed with Cat Scratch Fever. Soon after that it grew bigger, and once again to the hospital he went. At Childrens he was diagnosed with cancer. He had to undergo two surgeries and made it through both. They also discovered that they had removed all the Cancer!

Pride

In class, during the past few days, we have been watching the movie Pride. The movie is about a man, Jim Ellis, who forms the first African American Swim Team. He gets a job cleaning out an old recreational building and comes across some boys playing basketball outside of the building. When the boys no longer have a basketball net, the city took it down, he invites them in to cool of in the pool. He soon realizes that they have potential, so he asks them to help him form a swim team. They also get a new addition to the team, a girl, to help them out. At there first meet the other teams coach said that his team wasn't feeling well and 'postponed' the game. After that the team went on to win many titles. Coach Ellis soon looses faith in himself after he gets into a fight and they find out that he had a record of arrest. Ellis put himself on suspension and told the team to coach each other for the next meet. The girl on the team is the first to finish first, followed by one of the boys. The boys put Reg as the anchor, even though he isn't the best swimmer, because he has the biggest heart out of them all and he wins them first place in the competition.

My thoughts and feeling about this movie are very strong. I personally loved this movie. It shows how people  go out of their comfort zone to accomplish something they really believe in. The way that they were treated made me think they would quit trying. He had been called many names and looked down upon, but Mr. Ellis did not give up. He did it for the children and he knew if he gave up, the children wouldn't have a good role model. This movie is such an inspiring piece of work and I recommend it. This movie has inspired me to stand up for what I believe in. Have you watched this movie? What are your thoughts on this movie?

My Family

intent blog
My family is pretty big. Not just my at home family but my whole entire family. My father came from a family of eight children, and my mother came from a family of five children. I also have about twelve to thirteen cousins. Just about every weekend we make a visit to go see them. They live in Ste. Genevieve and we live here in Festus.

QR Codes

Technabob
QR Codes are, just like the name tells you, codes. You scan QR codes with your cellular device or any electronical device. They can be used for many different things such as projects, scavenger hunts, and many more fun things. In class we used QR codes and still are for further projects. What I like about QR codes is that they are easy to use and easy to make.

My Birthday

Fun Box
Last Friday, February 21st, was my birthday! I usually don't go to school on my birthday, not because I skip, but because it always snows on my birthday or its Presidents Day. This year I actually got to come to school on my birthday! It was fifty-five degrees outside and for the first time ever it didn't snow!

Extendable Ear

biTe
If I could keep one app on the iPhonus I would keep Extendable Ear. I would keep Extendable Ear because it can be used to keep in touch with others. Lets say if you are stuck in the middle of the woods and needed help and no one was around you could use Extendable Ear to get in contact with anybody.

Coding

Mommy Poppins
I like the coding that we have been doing. I think I like it because it challanges you and makes you think harder. It also teaches you that simple patterns can turn into one big challange. Coding is a great activity to use in the classroom. I think that coding could really help me in the future.

What Adults Have Forgotten

The Steve Laube Agency
I am absolutely sure that I won't forget about all the great times I had. Most adults have forgotten about this because they have grown up, began jobs, and settled down with a partner and children.

Kansas City's Verrückt Water Slide

Kansas City's Verruckt Water Slide Is Insane (Literally)!
The Kansas City Verrückt is a new water slide located inside of Schlitterbahn Water Park. It is said to be much faster and taller than Brazil's Insano. The slide was designed by Jeff Henry who co-owns the park. Jeff is often referred to as the 'Wizard of Water' because he has made other rides in the park too. I would not really want to go on this ride because I have a fear of heights and this slide is very high up.

Micro Windmills

These Ultra-Cute Micro Windmills May Soon Charge Your Devices
The thought of powering devices with wind power had never been dreamed of until now. Jung-Chih Chiao, an electrical engineer, set out to make tiny micro windmills that could potentially power devices. The tiny windmills are built to withstand heavy and strong winds because they are made with  durable and flexible nickle alloy. They envision selling them in packs of 100 for use of emergency cell phone chargers. They also think that a few thousand of the micro windmills could power a single family home.
